Melody timidly glided through the doors of the castle , her eyes wandering over the majestic decor or gold and silver and jewels, before finally trailing up to the high ceiling. She ducked her head slightly, feeling quite out of place. But she continued on as the guards nodded for her to pass through to the ballroom. The faint sound of music playing in the distance both relaxed her and made her more nervous. She had only been here a few weeks, and already she was invited to this grand ball. What was she to do? She knew no one, and honestly, she had never been to a dance as fancy as this one. But she had to be confident she told herself. She finally stopped at the door and straightened herself. Well, there was no turning back now. She took a deep breath and placed her delicate hands on the great handles and pulled them open.
She gulped and stepped in, feeling her tiny frame shake just slightly as a few eyes were diverted to her entrance. She was completely oblivious as to just how stunning she was tonight. She had saved up enough money to buy a dress just for this occasion. It was mostly teal, but all throughout was splashed different colors. It hugged her frame perfectly, but not too tight. The bottom draped out around her like a waterfall, the back trailing behind in a small train. Her light blue hair was pinned up loosely, a few small strands escaping here and there and falling around her soft face. Her sapphire hues sparkled brightly in the well lit room and created a sharp contrast against her pale skin. She dropped her gaze to the floor as a few more people turned to watch her enter. Doing her best to ignore them, she slowly made her way to the back of the room before lifting her eyes to the dance floor again.
People were dancing and twirling around the floor in almost-blurred motions, vibrant colors all mixing together with the music. A faint smile played across her expression as she watched, wanting to join in. But she knew no one here who would dance with her. She shook the thought and fitted her eyes around the room again. She rested them on another woman standing alone near the corner of the room. She appeared to be a bit older than Melody, but something about the woman intrigued her. She wore almost all black, except for the bright red rose stuck in her hair. She was really very beautiful, even from across the room. Melody wondered why she was not dancing with someone yet. She bit her lip lightly, then made her way towards the woman. Upon reaching her she curtsied slightly in greeting. "Hello," She said softly. "My name is Melody Operetta, I'm new here. I just thought I would introduce myself, since you seem to be alone tonight as well... unless I am mistaken" she added politely with a small bow of her head.
